About Dr Mark Meyer
Dr Mark Meyer is the Founder and Director of the Facial and Oral Surgery private clinic situated in Northern Suburbs in beautiful Cape Town. He founded the clinic in order to offer all his patients superior services with the most technological advancements in the field of Maxillo-Facial and Oral Surgery.
His vision is realized in two state of the art practices located at Netcare N1 City Hospital and Mediclinic Cape Gate it caters for all patients
Dr Mark Meyer is a Board Certified and Fellow of the College of Maxillo-Facial and Oral Surgeons in South Africa. He obtained his dental degree from the prestigious University of Stellenbosch.
He continued to pursue his interest in Oral Surgery and obtained his postgraduate diploma at the University of Pretoria and Honors degree in Oral Surgery at the University of Western Cape.
He received his medical training at the famous Groote Schuur Hospital where he rotated through Intensive Care, Trauma Surgery, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Ear - Nose and Throat Surgery, Neurosurgery and Ophthalmology.
Dr Mark Meyer not only obtained his training in South Africa but was awarded the prestigious AOCMF fellowship and the opportunity to train in Austria where he pursued his passion in Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) surgery. He also obtained a mini-residency fellowship in Arthroscopic TMJ Surgery under world renowned TMJ surgeons. He was invited to the Biomet institute in Jacksonville that focus on TMJ replacement surgery. He is therefore trained in the full scope of Temporomandibular joint Disorders and currently serve as Consultant TMJ surgeon at Groote Schuur Hospital. Currently he is pursuing his PhD degree focusing on the Impact of Genetics in the etiology of Temporomandibular Joint Disorders.
Dr Mark Meyer has a special interest in Aesthetic Facial and Oral Surgical procedures. He is the co-founder of the Dental Specialist Centre that focus on patient that require Implant Supported Smile Makeovers. He is a Key Opinion Leader for several leading Implant Systems and received his training both locally and abroad. He performs several surgical and non-surgical Aesthetic Facial procedures and aims in providing treatments that “Minimize Age and Maximize Beauty”.
Dr Mark Meyer was further rewarded by the Golden Key International Society for his outstanding academic achievements and is a registered member of this society. He obtained his MBA from the prestigious University of Stellenbosch Business school. He’s been appointed in several management position within the Private Hospital sector. He currently serves as Board member of a leading Day Hospital Group in South Africa.
Dr Mark Meyer has published and lectured both locally and internationally in the field of Maxillo-Facial and Oral Surgery. His PhD thesis combines Genetics and Temporomandibular Joint Disorders and will provide support for the future of Precision Medicine. He is actively involved in numerous non-profit organizations assisting making a difference in the lives of many.
